What are News Feeds?

News feed is a big on-line topic that contains a set of corresponding articles. News feeds are programmed so that if you add one of them to your feed reader software it will let you know when the website has added a new article to the feed. You can get the latest headlines as soon as they are published, without having to visit the websites you have taken the feeds from. Feeds are also known as RSS (Really Simple Syndications).

How can I use News Feeds?

In general, the first thing you need is a news reader. This is a piece of software that checks the feeds you have added and lets you read any new articles that have been added. There are many different news readers, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications.

Browser-based news readers let you catch up with your RSS feed subscriptions from any computer, whereas downloadable applications let you store them on your main computer, in the same way that you either keep your e-mails on a web-based service like Hotmail, or download therm using Outlook .

Once you have chosen a news reader, all you have to do is to chose the feeds that you are interested in and add them to your reader software by clicking on RSS button beside the topic you have chosen. For example, if you would like the latest Canada Travel updates handy, simply click on an orange RSS button beside Canada Travel item in the feeds list below and follow simple instructions to subscribe for this feed.
