Our First Story Contest - Some Story Ideas

We are looking for stories between 500 and 2000 words in length that you can send to the following email address:storycontest@travelandtransitions.com. You can send more than one story; each contest entry will be judged on its own merit.

Please send your stories as an MS Word attachment or as part of the email. Digital pictures illustrating your travel experience are welcome. For detailed guidelines and prize information visit our Contest Rules page.

Here is a brief overview of the types of topics that you can submit your stories on:

- your own travel experiences, in story or in diary form
- travelogues and regional travel experiences
- your own adventure travel stories
- your experiences living, working, studying, volunteering abroad
- stories about expatriate life, adjusting to a new culture, culture shock
- stories of cross-cultural learning and understanding
- eco-travel related stories
- humorous or inspirational travel stories
- stories of how travel changed your life
- stories of how travel provided significant insight and learning experiences for you
- special travel experiences (single / family / women / mature / disabled travellers)
- your experiences with backpacking, home exchanges, hospitality exchanges, house-sitting, RVing, house-boating, and other creative travel methods

As you see, the range of topics is very broad, however, we are most interested in stories that provided unique insights, learning experiences - in short experiences that helped you broaden your outlook and that might inspire other travellers to get out there too to expand their horizons. Stories that shed light on how to save money on travel will also be given special consideration.

If you are a regular contributor to various travel websites or forums, please feel free to submit material that you have already created for other websites (as long as you are the copyright owner). You are welcome to submit more than one story entry since we will be reviewing each submitted story individually.
